Chamber to honour outstanding businesses with Small Business Awards

TRURO – The Truro & Colchester Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce this year’s Small Business Week award recipients.

The Chamber received more than 100 nominations for businesses across the county, highlighting the vibrancy of the local business community.

“Small Business Week is such a special time for the Chamber as we present these awards to leaders in the community,” said acting Executive Director Chelsea Weatherbee. “It’s a true celebration of the business community as we recognize the impact small businesses have on creating a thriving local economy.”

The Chamber will present 14 awards on Oct. 24 during a luncheon at the Best Western Glengarry.

This year’s Small Business Award recipients are: Inclusive Financial, Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion, sponsored by Futureworx; Chaplin’s Confections, New Small Business Award, sponsored by Community Credit Union; Truro Chiropractic Clinic, Small Business Achievement Award, sponsored by Grant Thornton; Hestaband Therapeutics, Export Achievement Award, sponsored by Invest Nova Scotia; Debert Hospitality Centre, Small Business Innovation Award, sponsored by RBC; Derado’s Pizzeria, Excellence in Community Development Award, sponsored by the Town of Truro; Eisses Grain & AG Services, Agriculture/Agri Small Business Award, sponsored by MNP; Oceanside Aviation, Small Business Growth Award, sponsored by BDC; Many Moods Counselling Newcomer Business Award, sponsored by TCPEP; Maritza Nolasco, Legend’s Gaming and Conference Centre, Workplace Excellence Award, sponsored by Payworks; Clair’s Classic Antiques, Tourism Business of the Year Award, sponsored by the Municipality of Colchester; Hub Tune Up, Small Business of the Year Award, sponsored by CBDC NoBL; and Good Clean Farm, Environmental Stewardship Award, sponsored by the Town of Stewiacke.

The Chamber will also present its 5th Rising Star/Legacy Award on behalf of the membership to Ashton’s Garden Centre. This award in presented to a new business, less than five years old, and includes mentorship from several business professionals along with a $2,500 in funding to assist the business in scaling operations or improving products or service delivery.
